Our New Carpet
Our new carpet is here, and we couldn't be any happier! Keep scrolling below to see our pretty new carpet!
Old, multiple colors, and just not our taste were the carpets here before... We can move into a house that needs some love and DIY to our liking while living in it, but moving into a home with multiple different colored carpeting, and flooring styles... well we knew right off the bat this was one of the first things to change. And we also knew it would be a lot harder to replace once all of our stuff was moved in.
Sure, we were sleeping on our matress and living out of boxes (that were in our garage) until the old was ripped out and the new was installed, but it was worth it!
We ended up going through Home Depot, whom contracts out for carpet installation. Peter and I were highly interested with their deal: Free installation if you pay over a certain dollar amount, which also includes taking out all the old carpet. So we scheduled a date for them to come out and measure, they gave a quote within a couple days and then a date was scheduled for them to come out and install. We chose a popular carpet, we were lucky they had it in stock!!! During COVID, everything has been out of stock!
Installation day came, so Peter worked from home so he could spy on them :) AKA, making sure everything looked correct with install. Two guys arrived and they worked hard and quick, they got four rooms with closets and the upstairs hallway and closet done in less than 7 hours.
Beneath our carpet this super soft carpet padding was added, we went with a Tempur spillsafe moisture barrier carpet pad. As soon as we stepped onto the new carpet, WOW, we instantly could tell the difference compared the previous. Highly recommend going with a durable padding underneath for that soft comfy feel.
We ended up going with the color Abbey(780) in the Soft Breath II collection through the Home Decorators Collection at Home Depot. It is a grey color with hints of tan and white.
Everything went super smoothly, and I just can't stop staring at the carpet! It looks so good against our freshly painted walls! Don't mind the outlets and door handles, they will be updated soon!
