Guys, it’s Fall! And ah I just LOVE this time of year!
I love stepping out on the front porch on fall crispy mornings, watching the colorful leaves drop from massive trees that line the streets with a hot cup of coffee, and of course wearing a favorite flannel:) This fall my hubby and I have a lot of fun things planned, like, a sunflower festival, going through a maze, apple picking, wagon rides, lots of campfires, and enjoying a warm apple cider donut, or maybe two…. 😉
This year I decorated a little different for our front porch! Instead of using both sides, I only did one side to allow more room and not feel or look too crowded. I was excited to find out our local greenhouse not only has a huge colorful selection in the summer, but they also sell fall items like pumpkins, mums and fall flowers! While I purchased a mum and a couple pumpkins from the local greenhouse, I also purchased a couple fun and unique pumpkins and a bushel of burgundy corn from the Country Barn, located within a couple miles away! Guys I just love how fall makes everything so cozy and inviting:)
I have been watching all your fun instagram posts about decorating your front porch, how exciting is it?! As you can see we don’t have a lot of room to play around with, but we are thankful we can still decorate it with a little bit of lovin. For right now we will enjoy the space we have, but we are looking forward to the future when we have a lot more space to decorate!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Happy Fall, and I look forward to see more posts, and fun things you guys also have in store for this season!
I’m sorry it’s been a bit that I have written a blog here! But the wait was worth it, I am so excited to share with you our master bedroom with some added touches of fall:) This is actually the first that I have brought fall decor upstairs, and I don’t regret it!
I am realizing that I am becoming much of a minimalist, which is totally ok! I am so thankful because everything feels and looks so much more simple, clean and bright! So as you can see I added some simple fall decor to our bedroom, and let’s just say it made it so cozy and inviting!!
You may think something else also looks different….. Yes!! We sold our bedroom furniture on Facebook and bought every piece in here for the same amt on amazon! Steal!!!!!!!!! The iron framed bed made for the space to be more open and not so enclosed feeling, and the white nightstands aside created a very clean and bright look! No more chocolate brown in our room! The lamps, accent pillow and area rug all added warm tones to the grey and white, we are loving the mixture! As they all flow together, we are really glad we chose to purchase the grey dresser (matching our side storage unit), and then getting different nightstands in white, it allows for a settle and flowy look, everything isn’t so matchy, matchy. I will be honest though, I had a very tough time deciding if I wanted everything to match or mix , and for those of you who are asking yourself the same question mix it up!!!!!!!!!!!!

The wreath I made:) I used some extra floral and stuffed it into the plain wreath I already had on hand!
Guys I had so much fun writing this blog, easy, simple and I hope you find this helpful for your next space design! Happy early Fall;)
I am excited to share with you something that we easily put on the back burner because we are so focused on the inside of our home (which is totally ok)! Not only should you keep up with the inside of of your home, you also need to care for the exterior of your home as well… Make it inviting, and the one to stand out on the block!!!
About a month ago, my wonderful parents lent us their pressure washer, as well as our neighbor who lent us his 10 ft. ladder and extendable brush. We are so grateful for all of our helpers! While we obviously have 4 sides to the house, more moisture gets to the north side because of the shade. In saying so, that side was getting film growth and was needing a washing! After a couple of hours power washing (which we got in right before the storm hit us), it looked good as new!
A great and helpful tip for y’all who plan to pressure wash, if your machine is quite powerful, PLEASE squeeze the trigger to allow blowing of water to the side before hitting the siding while on the ladder. If you are not cautious the power could easily kick you off the ladder.
Some of you are asking yourself, what did they do besides pressure washing? Great question. Listed are some other maintenance things that we have done:
- Cleaning windows
- Trimming plants back/replanting/weeding
- Adding mulch to flower beds
- Cleaning/repainting exterior door
- New outdoor lighting
- Clean, stain/seal decking
- Added planters
Other things you can do:
- Inspect and repair roof/gutters
- Repaint/replace the exterior siding
- Cleaning fencing
- Update furniture/padding on furniture
- Switch up decor on porch/deck
- Keep up with your landscaping
Thank you for reading! I hope you found this helpful as much as I did while writing it.
Honestly, I didn’t originally put too much thought into the curtains in our kitchen, we just found a pattern that went with our wall color and called it a day. After some time though, I began realizing the small curtains were taking something away from the bigger and taller windows, as well as making the small window above the sink feel “more crowded”. So something needed to be changed!
Being that I am moving towards being a minimalist, and want for a neutral and bright home, it made for an easy decision. So I decided, why not make it easy and add white curtains, so that’s what I did! I purchased these curtains from Walmart (2 panels for $12). They were a little too long, so to add more of a shabby chic look, I folded over the ends, and I now love how they turned out! We added the ring clips to the original rod, and I also love how they look with the simple white curtains! Instantly these new curtains made the space feel more open, showed off the tall windows, and present a clean look!
As for the window above the sink, I took down the rod above the light, and instead bought a $2 tension rod from Walmart, ring clips and added this sweet curtain at the midway of the window. I am so glad we ended up doing this, because it just totally changed the feeling of our space. It also allows more privacy at night by pulling the curtain across. It’s simple and made the window to both feel and look bigger!
That’s all we I did. Nothing to extravagant, just a few tweaks here and there to change up the room by making it brighter and more inviting! Thanks for reading!
It’s so easy to become overwhelmed and not come up with a clear plan when there are so many ideas and thoughts running through your mind for a space! Sometimes you just need to put it aside, and give it a break. Most times (at least for me) when I do put it aside, GRAND ideas come to mind, and usually are the best of idea! So I encourage you to do that. If you find yourself becoming stressed because you can’t finalize a plan on either a project or a piece of decor, get away from it for a little and focus on another project you’re doing.
This space has been empty since Peter first moved in. I knew something should go here, but I just couldn’t come up with a good plan for it. Well, last week I was looking on pinterest for some inspiration, something very similar to this popped up, and I knew exactly what I wanted to do with our space! In case you want to check her out, it is Lara Kaighin’s “Miss Fortunately” pinterest board. You won’t be disappointed!
Foremost, I wanted something simple, useful, and pretty of course! But also not overbearing since it’s not a large space. As far as making it useful, I wanted to have an area that our guests can hang their coats and place their shoes as they enter, and we found the solution! I also did not want to spend a fortune, I remembered I still had a gift card for Hobby Lobby, so the next morning I hopped in the car and I went off to the store!
- Sign ($29.99- 40%) = $17.99
- Greenery $4
- Metal plant holder ($9.99-66%) = $3.99
- Wooden peg rack $15.99 ( click here for link)
The bench and pillow, we already had!!!
Everything was easy to hang, and it all fit just perfectly in that little space! I am so thankful my bench fits so well there. I was shooting for a corner basket there originally, but I couldn’t find anything skinny enough while also having some height. On a whim I remembered the white, shabby chic bench in our attic!!!!!!!!!!!! Went and grabbed it, placed it, and was so happy with the look! For now I brought down this pillow, but will probably replace it in the near future, because it’s actually the Christmas accent pillow (in reverse) haha, but who would know?!
Overall, we very happy with the result, and it fills this spot just perfectly! Thanks for reading!!
