Our Main Floor Bathroom Makeover

Our 1998 home that we moved into thankfully had only one room with wallpaper! I have heard horror stories from so many, and I surely did not want to have to deal with that.

The final result of the bathroom reno was not the initial vision I had planned out... But it's so much better!!!!!! Originally we were planning a half wall with chair railing, meaning the top wall would have needed wallpaper torn down and  painted walls, and the bottom half be bead board or shiplap. I kept going back and forth, honestly I really did not want to deal with the wallpaper at all AND I thought there had to be something else we could do to make the space feel and look bigger than what it had.

In the end, this project took only one week to complete, can you believe that???!!!!! Seriously this was probably the easiest DIY we have tackled yet. You know those projects where you feel "this really should just take a week"? Well sorry to break it to ya, but it usually never actually goes that way, but this one went surprisingly smooth!!!

DIY Bathroom Makeover- Before & After

When we moved in...

And now!

Our New Modern Farmhouse Bathroom

It really doesn't feel like the same room at all. When I look at it, it just makes me smile. It's weird to walk in and know it's the same bathroom, because it just feels and looks so much bigger and it looks so good.

I'm glad we went with the white shiplap. We placed it overtop of the dark green wallpaper, it instantly felt a lot brighter and cleaner! We chose to go with vertical shiplap to allow a taller "feeling space", drawing the eyes upward.

To finish off the shiplap we added the trim and crown molding.

My other original plan for this room was to add another pedestal sink, but I went back and forth on that. In the end we were so glad we landed on this cute vanity. It fills the space a little more and added some storage!

Accessorizing the Space

I didn't have a ton of room to style, but I did add a few small touches. My main concern was the room feeling too bland (because we went with a bright white wall color), so I made sure to bring in some greenery, texture and warmth as much as possible.

I was going between a gold or black mirror, but ended up going with this fun black mirror! I really like how it flows with the space, it kind of adds to the "draw the eyes up idea."

I purchased these cute hand soap and lotion dispensers from Amazon since they are prominently on display.

This rattan basket is super cute (found it on the Target $5 rack) and I love that it can hold some greenery and spray while not feeling too full. It's the little touches that make me smile so much.

I won a gift card through an Instagram post from Olive & Oak Collective, so I used it towards the beautiful wall arts being held in these frames from Amazon. I originally was thinking I was going to stack the photos above the toilet but when we held them up it just seemed like too much on that one wall. So we had this grand idea to keep the 8x10 for above the toilet and add the 12x16 above the towel rack. It worked out perfectly!

We found the black bars (Towel and Toilet) through Amazon for a really good price, and the quality is awesome!

And just a collage of images to showcase it, because I LOVE it SO much!!!

Thank you SO much for reading! I hope this fun bathroom project inspires you to do a fun bathroom reno too!
